Installations
De Memoria
Installation art has been a place where I can pursue the physicality of space and attempt to instill emotions to reflect upon my own memories.
In this installation I used recycled encylclopedias and rocking chairs to communicate a time where growing up in Florida I witnessed the dynamics of hurricanes and a troubled home life.
His-tory: The Recollection Of Personal Identity
I received an analog tape of my grandfather’s migration story to America and from that sprang the idea to do a bilingual installation.
The audio component of this installation was my grandfather talking in Spanish while I read the transcription in English. The steamer trunks became the vehicle where by the audience could immerse themselves in a space to reflect upon the dual spaces of Mexican-American identity.
